Biography:
American Panther, also known as Kevin Cole, is a Marvel Comics character who briefly assumed the mantle of the Black Panther. He is not to be confused with the more well-known and established character, T'Challa.
Cole, a former police officer from New York City, was recruited by Erik Killmonger during a period when T'Challa was rendered powerless. Killmonger provided Cole with a technologically advanced Panther Habit and enhancements, intending for him to act as a proxy Black Panther under Killmonger's control.
While initially loyal to Killmonger, Cole eventually realized the villain's malevolent intentions. He turned against Killmonger and used his powers to help protect the people of Wakanda.
Ultimately, Cole relinquished the title of Black Panther when T'Challa regained his abilities. After a brief stint as White Tiger, Cole largely faded into obscurity in the Marvel Universe, with very few appearances after the late 1990s.
